The Hobbit and Lord of the Ring Sword for sale!
Glamdring is also known as Foe-Hammer in Westron and is a one-and-a-half-handed sword which was made by Turgon, the King of Gondolin during the First Age. The Orcs knew it as Beater.

The sword was forged by Turgon, and he wielded it with strength during Nirnaeth Arnoediad and in the Fall of Gondolin. The name, Glamdring originated in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. The magical sword, Glamdring was used twice in a battle in the First Age. Turgon, used the Glamdring in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad and the Fall of Gondolin.

Turgon died as the Tower of the King fell on top of him, and Glamdring went missing for over 6,000 years and survived the War of Wrath. Then Gandalf, along with his company found Glamdring in the troll’s cave in Trollshaws of Eriador, far in the East and alleged it for himself. Gandalf was amazed by Glamdring’s appearance and inscription. Gandalf then continued to use the Glamdring throughout The Lord of The Rings, and it aided him in his mission to help the Fellowship of the Ring.

Gandalf used the sword well, and its first victim was the Great Goblin. Orcs ran away as they recognized the sword to be the “Beater”. This meant that either some Orcs were at the Fall of Gondolin or that they had heard legends about the two glowing swords – Beater and Biter. Whether Gandalf used the sword again during the Quest for Erebor is uncertain, although it is probable that he wielded it in the Battle of Five Armies.

Gandalf kept Glamdring by his side when the Fellowship of the Ring left Rivendell in T.A. 3018. He used the blade during the Battle of the Chamber of Mazarbul, and a short time later in the standoff with the Balrog. After the bridge had fallen, Gandalf and the Balrog fought on to the Endless Stair and Durin’s Tower. However, in his recollection of the events, he does not tell whether he used Glamdring or his staff in the Battle of the Peak.

Gandalf’s spirit perished there but was sent back because his work was not yet finished. He had Glamdring with him when he met the Three Hunters which he gave to Háma at Edoras, when asked to surrender it. Gandalf continued to bear it throughout the War of the Ring, and carried it at his side when he, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin arrived at the Prancing Pony in Bree. Gandalf and the Hobbits had seen so much war at the time that wearing a weapon did not seem odd. He has now kept Glamdring safe in a treasure vault at Minas Tirith.

In The Hobbit, Glamdring is said to have beautiful scabbards and jeweled hilts. In Unfinished Tales, it is mentioned that the sword was white and gold in an ivory sheath. It is engraved with runes in the Elven language. Gandalf did not know the script of runes. The runes said, “Turgon Aran Gondolin, Tortha gar a matha Glamdring, Vegil Glamdring gud daelo Dam an Glamhoth.” Elrond translated the runes to “Turgon, king of Gondolin, wields, has, and holds the sword Glamdring, foe or Morgoth’s realm, hammer to the Orcs”. Glamdring was made by ancient Elves.
